Entries Close – Sunday 21st July 2019 (Late postal/telephone entries will be accepted at the discretion of the tournament organiser. Players who have entered just the singles are welcome to enter the doubles as well when they sign in on their first day)

General Information:

Penarth LTC is the second oldest tennis club in Wales. The club is situated in the heart of the town overlooking the sea. Formally home to the Welsh Junior Championships, playing host on the grass courts to many Wimbledon hopefuls. PLTC now boasts 6 new floodlit courts & a newly refurbished clubhouse with excellent changing facilities, kitchen and bar. The Penarth Open is must entry for any keen tournament player.

The club has following facilities available:

  • 3 brand new all weather artificial grass courts and 3 all weather hard courts refurbished in 2016. All courts have state of the art floodlighting,
  • Comfortable clubhouse with views of all courts from inside and on the decking,
  • Free Wi-fi,
  • Licensed bar,
  • Kitchen & catering facilities during the tournament, Hot & Cold meals served at lunch and during the evening
  • Table Tennis,
  • grass touchtennis courts,
  • children’s play area
  • changing rooms with showers, and
  • on site Stringing Facility & Pro-Shop

Kitchen & Bar:

The club’s Kitchen and Bar will be open from 9am until close each evening serving snacks, lunch items and hot food as well as soft, hot and alcoholic beverages. There will be a lunch menu available for orders from 11:30am – 2pm each day and from 6pm each evening a ‘Hot Special’. See the example Bar Menu below:

The Local Area:

Travelling – If travelling by car the club’s postcode CF64 3AN will take you straight to the club without any issues. Please note that Rectory Rd is a one way street. If travelling by train, Penarth train station is just a 2 minute walk from the club.

Parking – parking is limited at the club. However, there is plenty of off road parking in the Penarth town centre and in the local residential areas. Traffic Wardens are a rarity in the area but we do advise respecting the resident’s driveways and any parking restrictions.

How to Start Competing

When looking to enter a competition the first thing to do is look at our competition pages to find out what competitions we are running that are suitable for you. Many of our competitions require players to have a British Tennis Membership and players can enter these competitions online via The LTA Website. However, some of our competitions are purely just for fun and perfect for beginners and social tennis players. These do not require a British Tennis Membership so anyone can sign up!

You can sign up to British Tennis for Free if you are aged 8&U or a member of one of our affiliated clubs.
